European Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) was adopted to improve the protection for human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals in consumer products. Throughout the years, the regulation has been updated constantly with additions to chemical controls and restrictions. One of the key elements in the updates is to define a list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) chemicals. The SVHC list started with 14 chemicals substances and has grown to more than 200 chemical substances today. As more and more chemical substances will be added to the SVHC list, what are the common chemicals affecting consumer products and how can manufacturers avoid SVHC? These are the areas we would like to discuss.
